Theophany - 2003
The Feast of Theophany is a celebration of Jesus Christ's Baptism in the Jordan River. The Feast celebrates the manifestation of the Holy Trinity - The Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
A Cross formed from ice crafted by
Sonia Janson was cast into the river.
Annually the Monongahela River is blessed in connection with the Feast of Theophany,
the celebration of Jesus Christ's baptism in the Jordan. Prayers were offered this year
for those who work on the river, travel on the river and benefit from the river.
Choir Director Sonia Janson and Choir member and former merchant marine Joe Katusa
read Old Testament readings from the Vesper service prior to the Blessing of
the River. Niko Illich held the icon of the feast.
