The St. George Circle of Serbian Sisters, Carmichaels, Pennsylvania celebrated its Slava
(organizational feast) on the Feast of the Dormition of the Mother of God, August 28. The
Feastal Bread and Memorial Wheat were blessed at the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy.
Prayers were offered for living and departed members.
Officers of the St. George Circle of Serbian Sisters are : Sonia Janson, President;
Melva Hunchuck, Vice-President; Mary Trbovich, Secretary; Kathryn Sage, Treasurer.
Francis Dragich was honored Kuma for this year's celebration.
At the festal dinner, Millicent Mitzie Hunchuc, Andrea Janson and Stella Shlosky read
from St. Nikolai's Prologue from Ochrid about the feasts of the Mother of God including the
Nativity of the Mother of God, Entry into the Temple, Annunciation, Protection and Dormition.
The St. George Circle of Serbian Sisters works throughout the year for the benefit of the
St. George Church and participates with the Eastern Region of the Circle of Serbian Sisters
in working for the benefit of the Eastern American Diocese.
