Fifty-First Anniversary
October 30, 2005
The Fifty-First Anniversary of the consecration of the St. George Serbian Orthodox Church
in Carmichaels was celebrated on October 30, 2005.
During the Divine Liturgy, prayers were offered for all living and departed faithful
of the St. George Church. The sermon during during the Divine Liturgy referred back to the
Service of Consecration of the Church and to the faithful believers through the centuries.
Dr. Ivko Dimitric, Sonia Janson and Andrea Janson chanted the troparian and kontakia.
Djelosh Jerry Milosevich read the Epistle in English and Maria Djonovich read it in Serbian.
Gregory Nicholas Zivkovich, great grandson of the first Executive Board President of
St. George Church was an altar server.
A banquet and program was held at Dolfi's in Masontown following the Divine Liturgy.
Stan Brozik, Executive Board President, warmly welcomed the attendees and the banquet
and expressed appreciation for the attendees and those working for the success of the
Anniversary celebration.
Sonia Janson, Choir and Circle of Serbian Sisters President spoke in behalf of these
two fundamental organizations of the St. George Church.
Dr. Ivko Dimitric, Vice President of the Executive Board, offered observations regarding
the St. George Church and the Anniversary celebration.
Millicent Mitzie Hunchuck, Parish Nurse Practioner, witnessed to the presence of this
aspect of ministry of the St. George Church. Dr. Radoslav Dimitric read in Serbian language
and gave his English translations of certain prayers from St.Nikolai Velimirovic's Prayers
by the Lake.
Karen Brozik extended warm greetings and remarks on this special occasion.
Dorothy Bozik, Executive Board Secretary and Audit Board President Kathryn Sage
expressed their joy regarding the celebration.
The St. George Church has been blessed with faithful priests, leaders, choir members,
Kolo members, parishioners and friends throughout the history of the parish.
