And entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting on the right side dressed in a white robe;

who was crucified. He has risen, He is not here; see the place where they laid Him."

Pascha
The Gospel of St. John 1:1-17
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him
nothing was made that was made. In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
There was a man sent from God whose name was John. This man came for a witness,
to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe. He was not the Light,
but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light which gives light
to every man coming into the world. He was in the world, and the world was made through Him,
and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God,
to those who believe in His name: who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of he flesh,
nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us,
and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.
John bore witness of Him and cried out saying, "This was He of whom I said, 'He who comes
after me is preferred before me, for He was before me.'" And of His fullness we have
all received, and grace for grace. For the law was given through Moses, but grace and
truth came through Jesus Christ. (NKJV)
The Feast of Feasts has arrived. Death is trampled down! Christ is Risen! Joy permeates
the air. The Empty Tomb sends forth the glorious message that will not be silenced.
Lives change with the celebration of Pascha. Hope ascends. Optimism dominates.
Christ's Resurrection exceeds the comprehension of the mind. Christ's Resurrection
transforms lives of believers.
Believers are empowered by the Resurrection. Believers are humbled by the Resurrection.
The love of Christ is revealed by the Resurrection. The humility of Christ is magnified
by the Cross and Resurrection.
The present Gospel gives the believer much to think about. The mind is directed to
the beginning. The mind is directed to consider everything that was made and Who is
behind the making of all things.
Christ as Light is something believers need to come to terms with. Candles burn
brightly on Pascha. During the Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts the exclamation is made:
"The Light of Christ illumineth all".
The darkness of death is replaced with the Light of Christ on Pascha. With the
joy of Pascha , it is difficult even to think about the darkness of death.
Great and Holy Friday recedes in memory.
On Great and Holy Saturday the joy of the Resurrection is revealed in the Divine Liturgy.
Vestments are changed. The content of the Divine Liturgy on Holy Saturday morning raises
the spirits of believers. Joy emerges. Believers having participated in Great Lent with
great seriousness feel the power of the Resurrection in their lives. Christ makes a
difference in each life open to Him. Christ transforms and makes serious believers new.
The journey through Great Lent and Holy Week is a journey with Christ and in Christ.
Individuals choosing to be serious and investing in Christ experience unity with Christ
and peace in Christ.
Time takes on a new dimension in Christ. Eternal life is possible in Christ.
Death is no longer final for those falling asleep in Christ. The Risen Christ gives
believers a basis to view the world differently.
Believers empowered by the Resurrection of Christ savor the Resurrection and the love
of Christ. The world looks different and is different. Believers face the world with
confidence in the Risen Christ.
The joyous greeting: "Christ is Risen!" goes to the hearts and souls of believers.
The Risen Christ calls believers to go forth in His Name to live according to His teaching.
The Risen Christ calls believers to partake of His Precious Body and Blood and to be
faithful in the way they live. The Risen Christ is found in God's Holy Church.
God's Holy Church is the best place to learn about the Risen Christ.
Mothers and fathers do well to bring their sons and daughter to church regularly to
learn about and from the Risen Christ. Children benefit by being at the Paschal
Divine Liturgy and at every Divine Liturgy.
Children benefit from hearing the joyous exclamation that "Christ is Risen!"
Learning of Christ's Resurrection is a foundation for young children.
Christ's Resurrection is a foundation for all believers.
The celebration of Christ's Resurrection is cause for believers to assess how they
live their lives and how they will live the remaining days of their lives.
The joy of the Resurrection is inspiration for recommitment to the way of Christ.
Families centered on the Resurrected Christ are families with a foundation of
joy and strength to overcome all obstacles. Families centered in the Resurrected
Christ are the most nourished families.
The Lord Jesus Christ said: "Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness
for they shall be filled."
(Mt. 5:6)
Fulfillment comes in Christ. Believers on the journey to Pascha find their fulfillment.
The journey through Great Lent and Holy Week to Pascha, undertaken in seriousness,
can be the most important journey a believer takes during the year.
Believers repenting of sins and following Christ are wise in their actions.
The saints and martyrs witness to the Resurrected Christ through the centuries.
The Church celebrates Christ's Resurrection continuously. The world is renewed with
Christ's Resurrection.
