- Matins and First Hour were read at St. George Church.
- The Akathist for the Ascension was read at the Holy Trinity Church in Fairmont, W.Va.
- May 22
- Matins and First Hour were read.
- Two people came for the Akathist for the Departed and Pomen for all individuals
buried under the auspices of the St. George Church.
All graves in the St. George Cemetery were blessed.
- May 23
- Matins and First Hour were read.
- Third and Sixth Hours were read followed by Divine Liturgy and Kneeling Prayers
of Vespers. Thirty people came. Three communicants.
One Fayette EMS Ambulance was blessed.
- May 24
- Matins and First Hour were read at St. George Church.
- Twenty-three people came to Holy Trinity Church in Fairmont, West Virginia
for the Slava Vespers, Blessing of Kolach and Koljivo. The Mission was honored
to have His Grace Bishop Dr. MITROPHAN come for the Slava celebration
accompanied by Father Deacon Dragoslav Kosic.

- · Remember the sick, the suffering, the imprisoned, those in rehab centers,
the homebound, the mentally ill, their caretakers and the institution staffs.
- · Remember the men and women serving in the military and their families.
- · Remember the workers in mines, law-enforcement, corrections, probation and
parole and firefighters, all working in dangerous occupations.
- · U.S. Army Captain Dustin Menhart was in church this past Sunday.
Dustin is completing graduate studies at the University of Georgia
and is preparing to teach at West Point. He and brother LTC.
Rich Menhart are a credit to their families and the United States Military.
They always remember the St. George Church.
- · As Memorial Day approaches, let us remember all of our veterans,
living and departed.

Angels help us to pray to God to be good and happy and at peace. Angels help us when
we are weak to overcome temptations for there is a constant struggle between the powers
of good and evil. Angels also teach us how to repent for whatever we have done wrong
and being sorry for it. And angels take our prayers up to God.

Sunday of All Saints
Mt.10: 32-33, 37-38, 19:27-30
Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father
who is in heaven. But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father
who is in heaven. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me.
And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does
not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. Then Peter answered and
said to Him, "See, we have left all and followed You. Therefore what shall we have?"
So Jesus said to them, "Assuredly I say to you, that in the regeneration, when the
Son of Man sits on the throne of His glory, you who have followed Me will also sit
on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. And everyone who has left
houses or brothers or sisters or father or mother or wife or children or lands,
for My name's sake, shall receive a hundredfold, and inherit eternal life.
But many who are first will be last, and the last first. (NKJV)
The Cross of the Lord Jesus Christ is central to the understanding of our relationship
with Christ. The way we handle the personal crosses each of us must bear in our earthly
lives reflects our relationship with Christ.
Pain and stress in daily life will bring out the extent of our personal faith.
Pain and stress in our daily life will reflect the degree of hope and patience we maintain.
If we are confident in God, our prayers will reflect this confidence.
This is the Sunday of All Saints. There are more saints than any of us will ever
individually come to know and understand. The saints were confident in God.
We do have the ability to know that all of the saints ultimately lived in ways
that were pleasing to God. They lived and died faithful to God. Many saints are known
only to God. God knows and sees what is done privately.
The Lord Jesus Christ said: "When you pray, go into your room, and when you have
shut the door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who
sees in secret will reward you openly."
(Mt. 6:6)
The thirst and hunger for God is only satisfied in God. He who created us
and gave us life is the only source of authentic nourishment that will satisfy
the thirst and hunger of the soul.
Contemporary society exposes many people living restless lives.
Anxiety can be overwhelming for individuals not well-grounded in faith.
Fear can be overpowering for individuals not firmly united with Christ.
Despair and despondency characterizes individuals rejecting the message
of hope rooted in the Resurrection of Christ. For believers in the Resurrected Christ,
there is no force than can nullify the hope established by the Resurrection.
The current Gospel reveals that Jesus expects believers to confess Him in daily life.
Believers confess their belief in Christ at Holy Baptism. Believers reaffirm their
profession of faith each time they recite The Creed.
The Cross of Christ reveals the divinity of Christ. The importance of the Cross continues
to be revealed with each passing day. The Holy Apostle Paul embraced the importance of the
Cross as central to his faith.
The Holy Apostle Paul said to the Corinthians: "I determined not to know anything among
you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified."
(I Cor. 2:2)
Believers do well to personally examine themselves with respect to the Crucified Christ.
The Crucified Christ and the Precious Body and Blood of Christ received at
Holy Communion are inseparable. The Resurrected Christ and the Precious Body
and Blood of Christ received at Holy Communion are inseparable.
Serious believers place the greatest importance in receiving the Precious Body and Blood
of Christ. Serious believers seek unity and renewal in the Crucified and Resurrected Christ.
The world offers many temptations, distractions and goals. The opportunity to acquire
abundant material goods can blind a believer and cause the believer to put the soul in peril.
Great care and great commitment are needed for the life in Christ.
The commitment to Christ and the way of Christ requires renewal at each moment of time.
Whenever a person fails in commitment to Christ or weakens in faith, repentance
and renewed expressions of commitment are necessary. Most people live many years of life.
Faithfulness to Christ is expected from Baptism to death.
The life in Christ is a life of fulfillment and realization of potential.
Gifts and talents from God are multiplied and enhanced to the degree a person remains faithful.
Joy in Christ increases by the degree a person is faithful to Christ.
Healing and health of the soul increases by the extent the person lives faithful to Christ.
Peace in the heart, mind and soul are realized in Christ.
Saints provide inexhaustible examples of different ways to live faithful to Christ.
Ascetics living in the wilderness, individuals feigning madness of mind, and prayerful
in monasteries are a few examples of different ways to live.
Married individuals have become saints. Individuals having become widows or widowers
have become saints. Young children and aged adults have been known to realize sainthood.
How one lives or dies is the determining factor.
One thing is clear and common in the lives of the saints. All of them have
lived in ways that reflect the purity and sincerity of the commitment to God.
Let us use this Sunday of All Saints to reflect carefully on the lives of the saints
through the centuries. Let us personally examine our commitment to Christ.
Today and everyday is the time for renewal in Christ following the paths of the saints.
