If you are Too Busy to Pray, You are Too Busy!

Mark 16:9-10 - Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept.

Jesus cast demons out of Mary Magdalene. The Risen Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene. This post-resurrection appearance gives hope to present sinners. This post-resurrection appearance should be an inspiration to present sinners.

To move from sin to Christ requires an interest in having a better life. To move from sin to Christ requires an interest in experiencing Christ and in following Christ. Believers cannot choose to enjoy sin and at the same time stand for Christ.

Believers need to know where they stand and for Whom they stand. An individuals values and beliefs eventually become apparent. The Lord Jesus Christ said: “You will know them by their fruits.” (Mt. 7:16)

An individual may appear outwardly pious. An individual may even attend church on a regular basis and appear to fast and to follow the teachings of the Church but that may not necessarily be what is in the heart and mind.

Pride and hardness of heart can keep a person from God. Pride and hardness of heart can cause a person to look with disdain upon others. Pride and hardness of heart can cause a person to consider him or herself better than others.

The lesson of the Publican and Pharisee is a lesson of humility, a lesson of comparison that needs learned over and over again. (Lk. 18:10-14) The Lord Jesus said: “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.’” (Mt. 7:21)

Mary, once demon possessed, became the bearer of the unprecedented and unequivocal news of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Individuals currently demon possessed can draw hope from the experience of Mary.

Consider the experience of the Holy Apostle Paul, once a persecutor of Christians. (Acts 9:13) When Christ appeared to him, Paul was changed from persecutor and became one of the foremost apostles. (Acts 9:15).

Contemporary individuals choose between following the Risen Christ or departing to follow others. Contemporary individuals choose whether to follow the road to the Kingdom or to follow paths that lead to less than satisfactory and life-fulfilling ends.

Individuals have one life to live. Life can be lived consistent with the intent of the Giver of Life. Life can be lived to the glory of God. Life can be lived in ways pleasing to God. Individuals loving and appreciating God make this choice.

Individuals are free to choose to live differently and reap the consequences. Non-believers, disdainers of God, individuals obsessed with accumulating material goods or seeking other gods will reject the Triune God.
