Matthew 17:2 - And He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light.

Peter, James and John did not know Jesus would be transfigured. They did not know they would be witness to a manifestation of Jesusí divinity. Followers of Christ in each generation experience miracles when following Christ in faith.

Some people experience only one Feast of the Transfiguration in their lives. Some believers will live through the celebration of one hundred Feasts of the Transfiguration. Most people live for periods of time when multiple celebrations of the feast have occurred.

Each person does well to personally review the impact the Feast of the Transfiguration has on his or her personal life. Is the Feast celebrated by attendance at the Divine services of the Feast? Does the believer prepare for the Feast by coming to Holy Confession and Holy Communion?

Will increased prayer be associated with the Feast of the Transfiguration? Will the divine uncreated light be among the thoughts of the believer?

Time passes. Believers must determine if care of the soul increases with the passing of time. Believers determine the investment in care of the soul. Believers determine the investment made in nourishment of the soul.

Jesusí appearance changed dramatically during what is now known as the Transfiguration. The change continues to be a consideration centuries later. Jesus wanted witnesses to the Transfiguration.

Jesus wanted specific witnesses to the Transfiguration. Each generation has the understanding of previous generations to use in considering the Feast. Believers should not depart far from the teachings of the Church when thinking about the Transfiguration.

The parameters of life in the Church are set by Christís life and teaching, The parameters are set by approved teaching of the Church. Centuries of God acting in history cannot be ignored.

The Transfigured Christ summons the believer in prayer. The Transfigured Christ is central to understanding the feast. All celebrations, all observances of the feast must center on the Transfigured Christ.

Believers are required to remain faithful to Christ. Believers are required to think carefully about Christ on the mountain and in each human life. The Transfigured Christ is a measurement of our lives. Believers choose whether to live frivolously or to be serious about the Lord Jesus Christ. The way believers live reveals the depth of faith in Christ. How many contemporary believers will follow Peter, James and John in lives dedicated to Christ? How many will put forth the effort to fight against sin and seek to be united with the Transfigured Christ?

Christ on Mt. Tabor emits a light for the path to the Kingdom.
