If You Are Too Busy To Pray, You Are Too Busy

Matthew 7:14 - Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

The faithful Holy Apostles learned directly from Christ. They heard His preaching. They saw the healings He performed. They viewed His demonstrations of love, compassion and forgiveness.

Believers coming to God’s Holy Church have the benefit of hearing the Holy Gospel proclaimed. Believers have the benefit of hearing the words of Christ and the description of Christ’s actions.

Believers today have the benefit of learning from teachers of the successors to the Holy Apostles. Believers today have access to prayers in God’s Holy Church offered by clergy ordained by successors to the Holy Apostles.

The Prayer for Those Under Penance reads: ”O Master, through Your Holy Apostles, You have granted to those who minister in Your Holy Church the power to forgive sins on earth and to bind and loose every bond of unrighteousness." i

Continuity exists in God’s Holy Church from the time of the Holy Apostles to the present. Contemporary believers do well to integrate the beliefs and faithfulness to Christ of the Holy Apostles.

Believers do well to avail themselves of the knowledge about the Holy Apostles in God’s Holy Church. Believers do well to join in commemorating the Holy Apostles during liturgical celebrations.

Believers shape their lives based upon their experiences and knowledge base. Believers shape and form their lives based upon decisions made and the results of those decisions.

Believers have access through prayer to seek the intercessions of the Holy Apostle for personal spiritual development. Believers have the opportunity to draw strength through prayer from the examples and intercession of the Holy Apostles.

The Holy Apostles are fitting Christian models and examples from whom believers can draw lasting lessons for personal development. The Holy Apostles firmness of faith under conditions of adversity is of incalculable value.

The Holy Apostles’ witness about the Crucifixion and Resurrection of Christ has transforming power. (Acts. 2:14-43) Readers of Acts will learn “many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.” (Acts. 2:43)

The Holy Apostles are not time limited to when they were in the physical presence of the Lord Jesus Christ. Liturgical celebrations on Thursdays and other specific days during the year enable the Apostles to be experienced in the present. ii
