Sonia Janson Attends Liturgical Institute

Sonia Janson, Choir Director and Kolo President of St. George Serbian Orthodox Church
in Carmichaels, Pennsylvania recently attended the Liturgical Institute of Music and
Pastoral Practice at St.Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary in Crestwood, New York.
This year's theme was "Does Christian Marriage Have a Future?" The two tract Institute
enables participants to concentrate either in the music section or pastoral section,
but exposes participants to portions of both sections.
Director Janson went to the Institute primarily for the sessions on liturgical music.
Additionally she was able to attend some of the lectures in the pastoral sessions.
The faculty for the Institute included members of the faculty at St.Vladimir's Seminary
and visiting faculty from other institutions of higher learning including Crane School of
Music, State University of New York.
Participants including clergy, choir directors , choir members and interested others
come for the Institute from throughout the United States and parts of Europe.
The St. George Choir and Church will benefit directly from Sonia Janson's attendance
at the Liturgical Institute.
